HoliGays is an Israeli tour operator that caters to gay and lesbian visitors to Israel. In the last two decades there have been great positive changes in gay life in Israel. According to a 2002 New Yorker article, Tel Aviv, Israel's largest city, is one of the ten most active gay centers in the world. But Israel is also one of the world's great travel destinations. With wonderful weather all year long and sunshine nearly every day for much of the year. The country has four very different seashores: the Mediterranean, Lake Kinneret, the Dead Sea, and the Red Sea, each with its own unique qualities. Despite its small size, Israel also has a great variety of landscapes, from the rolling green hills of the Galilee and snowcapped Mt. Hermon in the north to the rugged Negev desert, with its giant craters, in the south. And all these places are within a short drive of each other. Israel boasts such world-heritage sites as Jerusalem, Qumran, and Massada, with their well-preserved remnants of the ancient past, on the one hand, and the living museum of modern Bauhaus architecture that is Tel Aviv, on the other. The country is home to sacred sites of all three major monotheistic religions. Above all, the people of Israel are not only extraordinarily diverse, but also warm, welcoming, and open-minded.
